Baseball Recap: Dodge Vocational Takes a Loss

Dodge Vocational extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 4-3 in the process. They lost 12-3 to the Lehman Lions. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 7-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

As for Lehman, the win keeps they at an undefeated 14-0-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games.

For Lehman's part, Kevin Garcia was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over 4.1 innings pitched. Garcia has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Jesus Flores was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Rayniel Linares, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Looking ahead, Lehman will face off against Evander Childs at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Dodge Vocational will be paying especially close attention to the Lions' match: after the Lions face off against the Tigers, they'll take on Dodge Vocational again at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
