Baseball Recap: Liberty Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

While Liberty's win against Encinal wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Lions had just enough and edged out the Jets 3-1. The victory was nothing new for the Lions as they're now sitting on three straight.

Miles Cornell made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits (and only one walk). Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dom Staben, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

Liberty's win bumped their record up to 13-5. As for Encinal, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-5.

Coming up, Liberty will take on Rodriguez at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Encinal, they will square off against Berkeley at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
