While Chiles's victory against Gulf Breeze wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Timberwolves narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Dolphins 3-2. The victory was nothing new for the Timberwolves as they're now sitting on six straight.
It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Chiles got the one that really mattered. The final score came out to 25-23, 20-25, 31-29, 16-25, 15-13.
Chiles had a senior duo take command as Natalie Gibson had 37 assists and 14 digs and Madison Joyner had 25 digs and four assists. Those 37 assists set a new season-high mark for Gibson.
Despite the loss, Gulf Breeze had strong showings from Bella Ciolino, who had 43 digs and four assists, and Brynn Pinkston, who had four digs and three aces. Ciolino is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last six games she's played.
Chiles' win bumped their record up to 20-1. As for Gulf Breeze, with the defeat, they broke their 14-match winning streak and moved their record to 18-2.
Looking ahead, Chiles will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Leon at 6:00 p.m. As for Gulf Breeze, they will square off against McGill-Toolen at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
