Basketball Recap: Blacksburg Now 8-2 over Last Ten Games

After losing to High Point Academy the last time they met, Blacksburg decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Blacksburg Wildcats came out on top against the High Point Academy Grizzlies by a score of 46-36 on Friday.

Blacksburg's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Taylor Tessner led the charge by putting up 21 points. The dominant performance gave Tessner a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Essence Rodgers, who posted ten points and five assists.

Despite the defeat, High Point Academy had strong showings from Ella Zhuk, who went 6 for 12 en route to 16 points, and Karla Bracebridge, who had six points. That was a full 44.4% of High Point Academy's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's scored more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Kamiya Hill, who put up five points and three blocks.
