Softball Recap: Central Valley Has No Trouble Against Johansen

Central Valley's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 22-1 margin over the Johansen Vikings. Considering the Hawks have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Brooklynn Steeley and Gabriela Delatorre made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Steeley tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Meanwhile, Delatorre pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in February. At the plate, Steeley got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one double and one RBI, while Delatorre went 2-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Reylena Herrera was a standout: she scored four runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Monster Prudhel, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Central Valley hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive contests.

Central Valley's win bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Johansen, they dropped their record down to 2-13 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Coming up, Central Valley will square off against Central Catholic at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday. As for Johansen, they will challenge Modesto at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
