Football Recap: El Dorado Takes a Loss

El Dorado fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Rosemont on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Wolverines by a score of 19-16. Surprisingly, this marked the Cougars' seventh straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Despite the loss, El Dorado still got an impressive performance from Tyler Villa, who rushed for 139 yards while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. Grant Raffetto was in the mix too, providing the Cougars with one score.

Rosemont was led to victory by Alex 'Pit' Rodriguez and Gus Bailey. 'Pit' Rodriguez rushed for 65 yards and a pair of TDs, while Bailey picked up 75 receiving yards. 'Pit' Rodriguez was even better on defense, picking up two sacks and making eight total tackles.

El Dorado has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. As for Rosemont, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.

El Dorado will head out to take on Amador at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Rosemont, they will host Liberty Ranch at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Wolverines' defense better be ready for this one: the Hawks have averaged an impressive 42.4 points per game this season.
