Haywood's loss ends five-game winning streak at home

Recap: Haywood Tomcats vs. Bolivar Central Tigers

The matchup between the Haywood Tomcats and the Bolivar Central Tigers on Friday hardly resembled the 30-21 effort from their previous meeting. Haywood fell to Bolivar Central 57-53. Haywood's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Several Tomcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lekendrick Phillips, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Phillips pulled down eight or more rebounds. Michael Tyus was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with two steals.

Haywood's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-6. As for Bolivar Central, their win was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-3.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Bolton the next time they take the court. Bolivar Central will host Bolton at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Haywood will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
