Volleyball Recap: Foothill Falcons vs. Green Valley Gators
There's no place like home for Foothill, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Green Valley Gators on Tuesday. For the Falcons, this counts as revenge for the 2-0 victory the Gators walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.
Foothill had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 20-25, 28-26, 26-24, 25-23.
Their offense was headlined by Yeheshua Ruiz and Hayden Mauro, who picked up 15 kills apiece. They got some help from Jayden Ellizar-Keiki and his 47 assists. He also made an impact serving: he shared the team lead in aces with Derean Shearer, racking up two apiece.
Several Gators players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Garrett Schwartz, who had ten digs. The dominant performance gave Schwartz a new career-high in digs.
