League recap: Pewitt scores huge upset over New Diana

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Pewitt, who took down 428th ranked New Diana, 20-13.

Hughes Springs extended the longest winning streak in 2A-2 Region III District 9 this week by beating Linden-Kildare, 61-0. The win marks seventh in a row for the the Mustangs.

Elysian Fields's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Trevor Spear threw for 103 and three touchdowns and Tanner Davis had 36 yards receiving. On the ground Spear chipped in 154 yards.

Elysian Fields' offense has been unstoppable this season and the Yellowjackets feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Spear has thrown for 849 yards and 12 touchdowns this season, while Christian Smith has 11 catches for 272 yards. Davis leads the league in rushing with 604 yards.

Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when the Yellowjackets take on Hughes Springs. Elysian Fields' offense has racked up 267 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while Chris Edwards' team has allowed only 54 on the year.

A big matchup in 2A-2 Region III District 9 this week will be when Eric King's team takes on the Mustangs. The Yellowjackets are in fifth place, while Hughes Springs is in first place.

The Brahmas moved up to 771 from 876 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Pewitt was able to make move up by defeating the Eagles 20-13.
