Soccer Game Preview: Cocoa Beach vs. Merritt Island

Cocoa Beach is 1-9 against Merritt Island since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Minutemen will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m.

Friday just wasn't the day for Cocoa Beach's offense. They fell 2-0 to George Jenkins on Friday. That's two games in a row now that Cocoa Beach have lost by exactly two goals.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last matchup, Merritt Island made sure to put some goals up on the board against Astronaut on Monday. They never let the War Eagles get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for Merritt Island's offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

The win got Merritt Island back to even at 1-1-1. As for Cocoa Beach, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Cocoa Beach was able to grind out a solid victory over Merritt Island in their previous meeting back in January, winning 4-2. Do the Minutemen have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
