Softball Recap: Volcano Vista Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Atrisco Heritage Academy

Volcano Vista faced Atrisco Heritage Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Volcano Vista fell 11-6 to Atrisco Heritage Academy. The Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Jaguars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Genevieve Tapia was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one double. That triple was her first of the season.

Volcano Vista's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-7. As for Atrisco Heritage Academy, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.

Coming up, Volcano Vista will take on Cleveland at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The matchup will give Volcano Vista their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Atrisco Heritage Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Albuquerque at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
