Basketball Recap: Providence Beats Jennings County for Their Sixth Straight Win

Providence waltzed into their contest on Saturday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They came within four points of losing the streak, but they secured a 63-59 W against the Jennings County Panthers.

Jennings County's loss came despite strong showings from Carter Kent and Jeremiah Davis. Kent posted 24 points along with eight assists and six rebounds, while Davis went 6 for 10 to rack up 15 points in addition to six boards and three steals. Kent's afternoon made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least 20 points. Jackson Earl also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Providence pushed their record up to 14-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points over those games. As for Jennings County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-9.

Providence and Jennings County could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. Providence will challenge New Albany at 7:30 p.m. on Friday down 61 places (67 vs. 6). Meanwhile, Jennings County (ranked 91st) will meet Brownstown Central (ranked 12th) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
