Football Game Preview: Villa Park Spartans vs. Newport Harbor Sailors + Official Tickets

The Villa Park Spartans will venture away from home to take on the Newport Harbor Sailors at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

On Friday, Villa Park lost to San Juan Hills on the road by a 28-10 margin. That's two games in a row now that the Spartans have lost by exactly 18 points.

Meanwhile, Newport Harbor was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were beaten by Yorba Linda 41-14. While losing is never fun, the Sailors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 175th, while the Mustangs are ranked 43rd).

Villa Park will have to contain Jackson Stremick as he made an impact in Newport Harbor's last game. He picked up 89 receiving yards and one TD. Stremick was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 63 yards.

Villa Park now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Newport Harbor, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

Villa Park took their win against Newport Harbor in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 by a conclusive 46-21 score. In that contest, the Spartans amassed a halftime lead of 40-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
