Softball Recap: Highland Scots vs. Independence Falcons

Highland had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Independence Falcons on Tuesday and snuck past 5-4. The victory was just what Highland needed coming off of a 7-1 defeat in their prior matchup.

The team relied heavily on Janaye Phillips, who went 2-for-3 with a stolen base, a double, and an RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracie Luna, who went 3-for-3 with two RBI.

On Independence's side, Isabella Harrison made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 3-for-5. Another player making a difference was Jada Quezada, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Even though they lost, Independence kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Highland's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-7. As for Independence, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-8-1 record this season.
