Basketball Game Preview: Oxford Yellow Jackets vs. Temple Tigers

The Oxford Yellow Jackets will square off against the Temple Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Thursday, Oxford sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 59-57 victory over Sardis. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Yellow Jackets.

BriOnna Wilson produced another solid performance putting up 16 points along with seven boards and five steals. Wilson is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. TaKayvia Boyd was another key player, scoring 14 points and five rebounds.

Oxford smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 11 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Temple). They secured a 71-66 W over Pepperell on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Dragons: they've now won three in a row.

Temple's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Oxford, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.
