Basketball Game Preview: Murray Spartans vs. Hillcrest Huskies

Murray is on a three-game streak of home losses, Hillcrest a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change on Friday. The Murray Spartans will host the Hillcrest Huskies at 5:15 p.m. Hillcrest took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Murray, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with seven defeats in a row, Murray turned things around against Park City on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Miners 41-38. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Spartans have posted since December 1, 2023.

Meanwhile, Hillcrest played a tough matchup on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 54-33 to Tooele.

Murray will need focus on slowing down Dayana Mulamba, one of several Hillcrest players who made an impact when they last played. She almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Josie Haddock, who posted eight points.

Murray's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-11. As for Hillcrest, their loss dropped their record down to 5-11.

Everything came up roses for Murray against Hillcrest in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 56-21 win. In that contest, Murray amassed a halftime lead of 36-4, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
