Basketball Game Preview: Penn Kingsmen vs. Zionsville Eagles

The Penn Kingsmen and the Zionsville Eagles will round out the year against one another at at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Zionsville is hoping to do what Chesterton couldn't on Saturday: put an end to Penn's winning streak, which now stands at three games. Penn took down Chesterton 56-37. That looming 56-37 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Kingsmen yet this season.

Penn's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Peyton Miamba led the charge by putting up 21 points. Those 21 points gave Miamba a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Caleb Coolman, who posted 14 points.

Penn was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, everything went Zionsville's way against Harrison on Saturday as Zionsville made off with a 55-33 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Penn better keep an eye on Maguire Mitchell. He was instrumental in Zionsville's win, shooting 5-for-8 from downtown and dropping a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds. With that strong performance, Mitchell is now averaging an impressive 8.1 boards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Allen, who put up nine points.

Zionsville's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-4. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for Penn, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.

Penn beat Zionsville 58-51 in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Will Penn repeat their success, or does Zionsville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
