Volleyball Recap: Monday's Defeat Ends KIPP Navigate College Prep's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but KIPP Navigate College Prep unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-match winning streak on Monday. They fell 3-1 to the Luis Valdez Leadership Academy Lions. The Tigers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Lions earlier this season, when they won 3-0.

While KIPP Navigate College Prep had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-20, 22-25, 25-23.

Luis Valdez Leadership Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jazmin Cruz, who had four aces. Cruz has been hot recently, having posted two or more aces the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrea Mata Alejo, who had eight kills.

KIPP Navigate College Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 11-2. As for Luis Valdez Leadership Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 8-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matches. KIPP Navigate College Prep will venture away from home to face off against Mountain View Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Luis Valdez Leadership Academy, they will head out to square off against Apostles Lutheran at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
