Basketball Game Preview: Alexandria-Monroe Tigers vs. Mississinewa Indians

Alexandria-Monroe hasn't had much luck against Mississinewa recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Alexandria-Monroe Tigers will face off against the Mississinewa Indians at 7:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Alexandria-Monroe lost 59-38 to Oak Hill on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 350th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 127th).

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 22-22 at halftime, Mississinewa was not quite Western's equal in the second half on Saturday. They took a 49-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. While the Indians didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Panthers 13-9 in the first quarter.

Alexandria-Monroe will need focus on slowing down Rayveon Fetz, one of several Mississinewa players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 12 points. Kiontaye Woods was another key player, putting up ten points and six rebounds.

Alexandria-Monroe's record now sits at 4-11. As for Mississinewa, their record is now 7-7.

Things could have been worse for Alexandria-Monroe, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 54-40 loss to Mississinewa when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Alexandria-Monroe avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
