Baseball Game Preview: Gainesville Red Elephants vs. Jackson County Panthers

Gainesville and Jackson County are an even 3-3 against one another since March of 2023, but likely not for long. The Gainesville Red Elephants will challenge the Jackson County Panthers at 5:55 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Monday, Gainesville narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Forsyth Central 4-3.

Silas Ingram looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit every time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Cohen Miller was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Jackson County). Their pitchers stepped up to hand Murphy a 17-0 shutout on Saturday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded Jackson County with their most commanding win of the season.

Gainesville's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Jackson County, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Gainesville beat Jackson County 7-2 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Does Gainesville have another victory up their sleeve, or will Jackson County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
