Football Recap: Jones Beats Chisholm for Their Seventh Straight Win

Jones strolled into their game on Thursday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They claimed a resounding 45-12 win over Chisholm. Jones pushed the score to 30-6 by the end of the third, a deficit Chisholm had little chance of recovering from.

Jones got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jonquay Johnson out in front who rushed for 250 yards and two TDs on only 14 carries. Johnson's longest rush was for an impressive 63 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Acyn Hansen was another key player, rushing for 184 yards and a pair of scores on only 12 carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Jones was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 534 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Jones didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Kade Templeton and Drew Thomas.

Jones' record now sits at 7-0. As for Chisholm, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Jones will square off against rival Mount St. Mary at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Longhorns 9.6, the Rockets 8.7) so any points scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Chisholm is set to take on their familiar foe Millwood at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th.
