Softball Recap: Jerome Comes Up Short

Jerome had lost six straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped down to 4-9 to make it seven. They fell 11-7 to the Wood River Wolverines. If the Tigers were looking for revenge after losing 11-10 to the Wolverines when the teams met back in April of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Ellie Helmer made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three doubles, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Zada Larsen, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

As for Wood River, the win got them back to even at 7-7. The victory made it back-to-back wins for they.

On Wood River's side, Callie Allen was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 6.1 innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. Allen has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Hadley Elsbree was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025. Amalia Boyle was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

While Jerome had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
