Baseball Recap: Keys Gate Comes Up Short

Keys Gate had lost eight straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 0-2 to make it nine. They lost 13-0 to the Doral Academy Firebirds. If the Knights were looking for revenge after losing 13-6 to the Firebirds when the teams met back in February of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Doral Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 10.3 runs this season.

For Doral Academy's part, Esteban Delanuez looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Louie Prieto was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Kobe Carrion, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

Coming up, Keys Gate will square off against Coral Reef at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Doral Academy, they will face off against Southridge at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
