Football Game Preview: Hackettstown Tigers vs. Newton Braves

Hackettstown is 0-6 against Newton since October of 2016 but things could change on Friday. The Tigers will be playing at home against the Braves at 7:00 p.m.

It was a proper cat-fight when Hackettstown duked it out with Kittatinny Regional on Saturday. The matchup between the Tigers and the Cougars didn't end well, with the Tigers falling 36-22.

Despite their loss, Hackettstown saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Carter Bujno, who threw for 302 yards and three TDs while picking up 13.7 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 38 yards, was perhaps the best of all. Bujno is becoming a predictor of the Tigers' success: when he posts at least three passing touchdowns the team is 2-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Kolton Maney was another key player, picking up 177 receiving yards and one score.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Newton). They took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 55-14 victory over Jefferson Township. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Braves had established a 21-point advantage.

Newton now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Hackettstown, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
