Basketball Recap: Pickens Academy Falls to Vina in First Game of Season + How To Watch

Pickens Academy unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a hard 34-20 fall against the Vina Red Devils on Friday.

Layla Hester had an outrageously good game for Vina as she posted 22 points in addition to six steals and five rebounds. Hester has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 25 times she's played. Cecilia Rowbottom was another key player, putting up four points and ten boards.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pickens Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Ellwood Christian at 3:00 p.m. on the 24th. As for Vina, they will be playing at home against Sumiton Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
