Softball Recap: Ocoee Wins Going Away Against Cypress Creek

After losing to Cypress Creek the last time they met, Ocoee decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Knights were the clear victors by an 18-3 margin over the Bears on Thursday. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Jadore Thompson was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Thompson was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three runs and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaitlyn Mercer, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kimora Prim, who went 1-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Ocoee kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cypress Creek only managed five.

Ocoee's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games. As for Cypress Creek, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ocoee will welcome Timber Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Cypress Creek, they will face off against Poinciana at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bears' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 9.6 runs per game this season.
