Football Game Preview: Shallowater Mustangs vs. River Road Wildcats + How To Watch

Shallowater has gone 8-1 against River Road recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Mustangs will host the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Shallowater has three straight victories, River Road has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Shallowater proved they can win big on October 10th (they won by 52) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Bushland 28-26. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mustangs have posted since October 25, 2024.

Meanwhile, River Road took a blow against Dalhart on Friday, falling 48-14. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 1096th, while the Wolves are ranked 435th).

Shallowater's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for River Road, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.

Everything came up roses for Shallowater against River Road in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 44-0 win. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
