Basketball Recap: Dutch Martinez Jr's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Poston Butte over ALA - Gilbert North

Poston Butte was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a hard 52-33 fall against the ALA - Gilbert North Eagles. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Broncos this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 70-42 back in January.

Several Broncos players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dutch Martinez Jr, who posted nine points and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Rex Danso, who put up seven points and nine boards.

Even though they lost, Poston Butte smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

It was another big night for Viktor Babic, who made all 7 shots he took for 19 points for ALA - Gilbert North. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyle Speed, who had seven points in addition to 13 rebounds and three blocks.

Poston Butte's defeat dropped their record down to 7-14. As for ALA - Gilbert North, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-6.

Poston Butte wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 57-36 win against Crismon on the 31st. ALA - Gilbert North has also already played their next matchup, a 53-42 victory against Eastmark on the 31st.
