Football Recap: Jaylan Hubbard Leads South Columbus' Defense on Friday

South Columbus hadn't done well against Whiteville recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Stallions came out on top against the Wolfpack by a score of 22-15. This was payback for the Stallions, who suffered a 21-8 loss the last time these two teams met.

South Columbus didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Jaylan Hubbard, Rylan Norris, and Briar Johnson picked up one apiece. Norris has been hot for a while, having also posted five or more total tackles the last 18 times he's played.

South Columbus has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 30.4 points over those games. As for Whiteville, they moved to 7-3 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, South Columbus will take on West Bladen at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Stallions will be up against the Knights' rather soft defense (which has allowed 28.8 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. Whiteville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
