Softball Recap: Rocklin Picks Up Eighth Straight Win at Home

Rocklin had won eight straight at home, but on Friday they bumped up to 16-4 to make it nine. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Oak Ridge Trojans a 4-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 9-1 back in March.

Not much got past Payton Prior, who gave up just two hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Oak Ridge off the board. Prior has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Maddie Williams was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February of 2025. Rae Hulsey also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Rocklin hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive games.

As for Oak Ridge, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season. The shutout was out of character for they seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

On Oak Ridge's side, Brooklyn Paratore made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles.

Coming up, Rocklin will take on Vacaville at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Thunder's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season. As for Oak Ridge, they will square off against Del Oro at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Trojans 3.6, the Golden Eagles 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
