League recap: Hazlehurst tops Forest to extend winning streak

3A Region 7 recap November 19, 2013

Hazlehurst added to the longest winning streak in 3A Region 7 this week by beating Forest, 27-12. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.

Wilkinson County took down Philadelphia 26-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Wilkinson County's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Wildcats feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Devin Voorhies has thrown for 1,917 yards and 17 touchdowns this season, while Allenzae Staggers has 60 catches for 1,093 yards. Voorhies also leads the league in rushing with 1,657 yards.

Jeriko Morris has rushed for 921 yards on 123 carries so far this year.

Entering into this week's contest against Seminary, Voorhies is short just 83 passing yards to break 2,000 on the season.

Wilkinson County made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,820 from 2,810. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 26-6 victory over the Tornadoes last week.
