Baseball Recap: Watertown Takes a Loss

Watertown made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Stevens Point, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Goslings fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 5-3 on Saturday. The Goslings haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Watertown got a good showing from Keenan Eckert, who didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Eckert has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Davis Cashin was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That RBI was his first of the season. Calvin Hurtgen was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Watertown's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Stevens Point, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

While Watertown had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
