Football Game Preview: Northmor Golden Knights vs. Cardington-Lincoln Pirates

The Northmor Golden Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Cardington-Lincoln Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Northmor easily dispatched East Knox last Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Golden Knights fell just short of Mt. Gilead by a score of 22-20 on Friday. While the Golden Knights had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Indians 12-0.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Tanner Miley, who threw for 231 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73% of his passes. 110 of Miley's passing yards were hauled in by Conner Stockdale, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Meanwhile, Cardington-Lincoln was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 21-16 heartbreaker at the hands of Loudonville.

Cardington-Lincoln's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Northmor, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.

Everything came up roses for Northmor against Cardington-Lincoln in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 49-6 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Golden Knights since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
