Softball Recap: Ripley Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Ripley had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 12-4 margin over the Capital Cougars. With that win, the Vikings brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Ripley let Kassidy Wilson and Ava Casto run wild. Wilson went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and four RBI, while Casto went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four RBI gave Wilson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Addison Howery, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Ripley hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in ten consecutive games.

Ripley's victory bumped their record up to 10-13. As for Capital, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-20 record this season.

Ripley didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 8-0 loss against Chapmanville Regional on the 2nd. As for Capital, they have also already played their next game, a 15-0 win against Princeton on the 4th.
