Volleyball Recap: Cedar Grove Comes Up Short

If Cedar Grove was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Towers last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Saints took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Greater Atlanta Christian Spartans on Tuesday. The Saints were not able to make up for their loss to the Spartans from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

Greater Atlanta Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Angel Salcedo, who had six aces. That's the most aces Salcedo has posted since back in September of 2024. Taylor Towns also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

Cedar Grove has been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 13 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. As for Greater Atlanta Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-10 record this season.

Coincidentally, Cedar Grove and Greater Atlanta Christian will both be playing Douglass the next time they take the court. The Saints will host the Astros at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Spartans will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
