For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Portage and United meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. The Mustangs narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Lions 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mustangs have posted against the Lions since September 1, 2022.

Portage wouldn't go down easily and took United into a fifth set where they got it done with a six-point win. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-23, 24-26, 21-25, 15-9.

The victory snapped Portage's losing streak at five matches and leaves them with a 7-13 record. As for United, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-19-2 record this season.
