Basketball Recap: Rye Cove Takes a Loss

Rye Cove lost against Rural Retreat two weeks ago and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Rye Cove Eagles took a 48-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rural Retreat Indians. The defeat leaves the Eagles without a win on the season.

Rye Cove's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Rural Retreat, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rye Cove won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Patrick Henry at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Patrick Henry's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Rural Retreat, they will challenge Honaker at 7:30 p.m. on January 10th. Rural Retreat is facing Honaker at the right time seeing as Honaker is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
