Softball Game Preview: McMinn Central Chargers vs. Meigs County Tigers

McMinn Central is 1-9 against Meigs County since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Chargers will venture away from home to square off against the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. McMinn Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.

Saturday just wasn't the day for McMinn Central's offense. They lost 7-0 to Sweetwater on Saturday. The Chargers' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

McMinn Central saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Josie Grueber, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Meigs County, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Roane County 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tigers have posted since April 6, 2024.

With the victory, Meigs County broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-10. As for McMinn Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-10.

McMinn Central was able to grind out a solid win over Meigs County when the teams last played last Wednesday, winning 3-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chargers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
