After losing to Sutton the last time they met, Doniphan-Trumbull decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Cardinals sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Mustangs on Thursday. While the Cardinals didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-21), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Baylee Larson paced Doniphan-Trumbull's offense, picking up 16 kills. Larson got some help from Laini Rath and her 16 assists. Rath and Larson didn't slow down when it came to serving: they led the team with three apiece.

Doniphan-Trumbull's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Sutton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.

Doniphan-Trumbull will take on Boone Central in a tournament on Saturday. As for Sutton, they will be taking part in a tournament against Tri County at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Trojans will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Mustangs surely won't give up without a fight.
