Baseball Recap: Wellington Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Wellington proved they can win big last Wednesday (they won by ten) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Timnath Cubs, sneaking past 7-6. The Eagles have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Cubs, too.

The team relied heavily on Cade Keller, who scored two runs while going 4-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Kade Schweitzer also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

The win was the third in a row for Wellington, bringing their record up to 3-6. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 15.33 hits in those games compared to only 4.33 in the others. As for Timnath, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.

Wellington will have a chance to go back-to-back against Timnath: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
