Basketball Recap: Alexander Extends Winning Streak to Three

Alexander extended their winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Jayden Crawford. The Cougars came within a single point of losing the streak, but they secured an 88-87 W against the Cedar Grove Saints with plenty of help from Crawford, who shot 56% from the field to rack up 29 points in addition to eight boards and four steals. Crawford is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season.

Despite the loss, Cedar Grove still got an impressive performance from Emanuel Green, who posted 33 points. That was a full 37.9% of the Saints' points, marking the third time in a row Green has had more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Jaimarion Mathis, who put up 18 points.

Alexander's record is now 3-0. As for Cedar Grove, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Alexander will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Hillgrove at 7:00 p.m. on the 6th. The Cougars will be up against the Hawks' rather soft defense (which has allowed 51 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Cedar Grove, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 63-48 loss against Holy Innocents Episcopal on the 29th.
