Preview: Academy Park Knights vs. Chester Clippers
Academy Park is 7-2 against Chester since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Academy Park Knights will look to defend their home field against the Chester Clippers at 1:00 p.m. Academy Park comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 12 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
Two weeks ago, Academy Park sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-10 win over Interboro.
Meanwhile, Chester had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.6 points), and they went ahead and made it eight on Saturday. They breezed by Chichester on the road to the tune of 48-8. The result was nothing new for Chester, who have now won five games by 22 points or more so far this season.
Chester's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jalen Harris led the charge by throwing for 158 yards and three touchdowns, while also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Dayshon Jackson was another key contributor, rushing for 133 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries.
Another reason for the win was Chester's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Asaiah Payne and Dominic Toy who racked up four sacks between them.
Academy Park's victory bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Chester, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-1.
Academy Park suffered a grim 39-16 defeat to Chester in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Will Academy Park have more luck at home instead of on the road?
