Hopkins had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Allegan on Tuesday. The Vikings put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 11-1 win. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Trent Smith made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kellen Ford, who went 1-for-2 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Merek Zapolnik, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Hopkins is on a roll lately: they've won 21 of their last 22 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 28-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Allegan, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-13.
