Basketball Game Preview: Lake Stevens Vikings vs. Lakewood Cougars

The Lake Stevens Vikings will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Lakewood Cougars at 1:15 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Lake Stevens is headed into Monday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Saturday. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 68-66 heartbreaker at the hands of Davis. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 209th, while the Pirates are ranked tenth).

Meanwhile, Lakewood unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 65-58 to Selah.

Lakewood's loss dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Lake Stevens, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
