Basketball Recap: Topsail Falls Despite Big Games from Mason French and Logan Carano + How To Watch

Topsail blew New Bern out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday New Bern got their revenge. The Pirates fell just short of the Bears by a score of 50-47. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Topsail's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Logan Carano, who shot 46% from the field on his way to 15 points and three steals, and Mason French, who went 5-for-12 en route to 13 points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead New Bern to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nicholas Jewell, who posted 12 points and three steals. Those three steals gave Jewell a new career-high. Another player making a difference was AJ Scott, who shot 42% from the field to rack up 11 points and six rebounds.

Topsail's defeat dropped their record down to 1-2. As for New Bern, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Topsail wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 55-42 loss against Croatan on the 25th. As for New Bern, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 76-42 victory against Havelock on the 25th.
