Preview: Cocke County Fighting Cocks vs. Carter Green Hornets
Cocke County and Carter are an even 3-3 against one another since December of 2015, but not for long. The Cocke County Fighting Cocks will head out on the road to face off against the Carter Green Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Cocke County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Monday.
Last Monday, Cocke County had to suffer through a rough 76-48 loss at the hands of William Blount. While losing is never fun, Cocke County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 189th, while William Blount is ranked 42nd).
Despite the defeat, Cocke County saw an underclassman step up: Maddox Holt scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Fine, who scored 8 points along with 10 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Carter's four-game losing streak came to an end on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 75-52 margin over Seymour.
The losses dropped Cocke County to 3-3 and William Blount to 4-1.
Cocke County might still be hurting after the 83-63 loss they got from Carter in their previous meeting back in January of 2019. Can Cocke County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
