Volleyball Recap: Thursday's Defeat Ends Shiprock's Winning Streak

Shiprock dropped down to 13-9 on Thursday, ending the team's five-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Miyamura Patriots by a score of 3-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Taleah Phillips paced Shiprock's offense, picking up 19 kills. Phillips got some help from Yonna Etcitty and her 24 assists. Finally, Orie Lowe kept Shiprock's defense grounded, leading the team with 11 blocks.

As for Miyamura, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-11. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since September 6th.

Miyamura found their leader in sophomore Kenna Briggs, who had 13 digs. Briggs has been hot, having posted 11 or more digs the last five times she's played.

As of now, neither Shiprock nor Miyamura have any future games scheduled.
