Basketball Recap: Sterling Falls to Sacred Heart in First Game of Season

Sterling had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a blow against the Sacred Heart Irish, falling 68-19. The Jets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-11.

Despite the loss, Sterling saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kade Horstman posted 11 points.

Sacred Heart got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Cole Taft out in front who shot 71% from the field to rack up 15 points and four steals. Bo Fletcher was another key player, going 6-for-12 on his way to 14 points and four steals.

Coincidentally, Sterling and Sacred Heart will both be playing Exeter-Milligan/Friend the next time they take the court. The Jets will host the Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Irish will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
