Baseball Game Preview: Desert Christian Eagles vs. St. Augustine Catholic Wolves

The Desert Christian Eagles will take on the St. Augustine Catholic Wolves at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Desert Christian is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak dating back to last season.

On Friday, Desert Christian didn't have quite enough to beat Willcox and fell 7-6.

Caden Esquerra was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Esquerra was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024.

Esquerra wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Caleb Marquez, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, St. Augustine Catholic came up short against Tombstone on Thursday, falling 16-5. The loss continues a trend for the Wolves in their meetings with the Yellow Jackets: they've now lost three in a row.

St. Augustine Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Desert Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Desert Christian took their win against St. Augustine Catholic when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 14-3. Will Desert Christian repeat their success, or does St. Augustine Catholic have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
