Volleyball Recap: Gateway Christian Comes Up Short

If Gateway Christian was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Fort Sumner/House on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Warriors fell just short of the Melrose Buffaloes by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Buffaloes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in October.

Gateway Christian took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 25-17, 12-25, 25-16, 15-7.

Gateway Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 16-6. As for Melrose, their win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-2.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Gateway Christian will square off against rival Lake Arthur at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Melrose is set to face off against their familiar foe Floyd at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
